 The Rootfriends are honored to have Michael Franti,
writer, father, artist, humanitarian, and poet, along with the immensely talented Spearhead cohorts David Shul
and Carl Young contribute their song "Feelin' Free" from the Everybody Deserves Music album. This album is
a tour de force and we highly recommend it.
Michael Franti & Spearhead tour incessantly to perform for devoted audiences, sharing bills with the likes of
Dave Matthews, Ani Di Franco, and Trey Anastasio (Phish), U2 and the beat poet William Burroughs.
Franti makes claim to an array of diverse influences, from Motown to The Clash, resulting in a joyful mix of genres
spread thick over a genuine concern for the world and its relevant issues. Michael Franti & Spearhead are also
one of the most uplifting, vibrant, and danceable live performers today. When performing at music festivals during
the day, dozens of kids inevitably appear on stage, dancing to the music and playing instruments handed to them by the
