| Wendy Hollender |
Wendy Hollender has designed textiles for more than 20 years. Through
her work developing floral designs for clients such as Wedgwood China and Westpoint Stevens, she became intrigued with
the complex beauty of plants.
"Plant Morphology fascinates me. Studying flowers under the microscope opens up a whole world of possibilities for
inspiration. The process that plants go through in the cycle of life amazes me. Nature is a perfectionist when it comes
to the arrangement of color and form."
This fascination inspired Wendy to create a series of oil paintings called “Botanical Sketchbook." The original paintings
are 24-30 inches wide by 36-40 inches high. They are all painted on handmade linen canvases. Wendy has developed
these images into a line of limited edition products. Included are Fine Art Giclee prints, note cards, totes bags, pillows
and scarves. Wendy custom prints the fabrics in her studio, using the latest digital printing technology. Wendy
is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. She also possesses a certificate of botanical illustration from
the New York Botanical Garden, where she is now teaching oil painting and botanical drawing. Her work will be featured
in a solo exhibit at the Horticultural Society of New York in November. |
